The purpose of this page is to rank all companions in Monster Girl Quest! Paradox RPG based on their strength of efficacy in battles. Characters are ranked on a descending order from S to D. Within the same tier, characters near the top are considered (relatively) more effective or powerful than those below them. The "Overall Ranking" includes all companions, while the "Race Rankings" contain only companions pertaining to a specific race (only a character's initial race is taken into consideration when assigning them into a specific race ranking).
Keep in mind that all companions are viable, as it is possible to beat the game with any party combination, be it composed of companions considered to be low or high tier. Therefore, do not be distraught if your favorite companion finds itself in a lower tier compared to others; it is still possible to have success with them in battles.
If you want a ranking specifically to delve deep into Paradox's endgame that is the Labyrinth of Chaos, we suggest consulting this list instead. The rankings on this page apply for the main game but also for the early stages of the Labyrinth of Chaos. In the deeper layers of the Labyrinth of Chaos, however, due to the phenomenon of stat inflation affecting both companions and enemies, different approaches become crucial for taking down opponents. For a guide about general and valuable strategies to use in battles, refer to this article.
Users are encouraged to update the tier lists on this article by adding new companions into the tier they think they fall in, altering the position of companions who are already present in the rankings, or adding/improving the descriptions of companions. Changes should ideally be justified based on in-game data and with one's experience with the character. In case of disagreement with other users, consensus should be sought in the comments section.
To view more detailed information about how to recruit characters, or add new companion portraits into this page, please access the Companions page. SS Rank:
Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. With access to the rare Queen Succubus race, innate double action, the Nightmare trait, +30% and +50% bonus damage with Sexcraft and Pleasure skills respectively, +100% bonus damage to foes afflicted with Sleep or Pleasure ailments, in addition to an exclusive accessory (Succubus Smile) that activates at the start of every battle and has a chance of causing all foes to be affected by the Sleep/Horny/Trance status ailments, Est is an incredible defensive and offensive powerhouse that can fit into any team without any drawbacks. Obtained in: Chapter 2 (Alice route only). The best magical damage dealer with turn setups and also a very versatile character due to having the most races in the game. Alicetroemeria's trait allows her to doublecast all Black Magic and Time Magic skills, combining that with the skills "Maid Boost" from Scylla Servant Lv8 and "Dullahan Rondo" from Dullahan Lord Lv4 which both used give her two additional actions per turn, and she can cast Black Magic or Time Magic skills 6 times per turn in total, resulting in a fast evaporation of any entity with an HP value. Her Scylla Servant Lv4 race also opens up the "I'm a Magical Maid" skill which boosts Magic by 50%. At the point she's recruited in the game even without leveling up any of her jobs or races she can obliterate all her enemies thanks to her trait and due to the fact that she's the first recruited party member with access to advanced jobs and races, the advanced Black Mage jobs giving her a powerful arsenal of Magic skills from the get-go. Obtained in: Chapter 1 (Lily's Mansion) The best physical damage dealer with turn setups. When you first get Mitsuko, she can look underwhelming. Sure, she has four basic races complete and can deal quite a bit of damage with her Slime/Tentacle skills, which activate twice for 150% SP consumption. However, Mitsuko's true potential gets unlocked as you progress in the game and receive access to her higher rank races. Elder Scylla gives her access to "Ex Tentacle up", granting Mitsuko 9 additional basic attacks and 4 additional Tentacle skills per cast, and the Giga Slime race provides access to the skill "Divine Destiny", giving her two additional actions per turn. Those buffs stack with each other, with other skills that grant additional actions per turn like Maid Boost, Dullahan's Rondo and Slime Division, and more importantly, with attack boosts. This way, you can either build a Tentacle or even a basic attack oriented character that is able to take down bosses in a single sequence of attacks on the third turn or later. Obtained in: Chapter 2 Same as Mitsuko, although her trait comparatively makes her inflict less damage with Tentacle and Slime skills. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. Nemea having priority White Magic is defensively very powerful as she can heal right away, teamwide buff or even safely mass revive fallen team members to full health. She has armor with absorb pleasure that will keep her safe from pleasure attacks that have multiple elements as long as one isn't nightmare. Her staff includes a 33% chance of casting sleep at the end of turn along with 20% Evasion and Magic Evasion. She also has an unique demon art that lowers Defense/Willpower, inflicts sleep, and absorbs MP and a exclusive White Magic attack that is Pleasure/Holy that would combo with her unique accessory that casts White Magic twice. She's almost as scary offensively as she is defensively. S Rank: Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. Daji is an overwhelming character in many aspects. To start with, she is currently the only companion to possess the advanced race Nine-Tailed Kitsune, which has incredible stats all-around while granting powerful skills and abilities. In addition, her Unique Trait allows her to use all combat, magic and job skills. It also causes her Magic skills to deal +50% damage with 133% MP cost and Sword, Fan, Ninjutsu, Dancing, Singing, Sexcraft and Beast skills to deal +50% damage with 133% SP cost. When recruited, Daji starts with the unbelievable amount of 35 jobs and 23 races mastered, while having access to four different race trees (Slime, Beast, Kitsune and Alraune), granting her an immense amount of versatility. As if that wasn't enough, Daji's exclusive Magic Sword, Jade of the Nine Dragons, grants her a probable extra action (which means she can act one or even two additional times per turn) and has the properties of a Fan/Ninja Sword. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. The Nightmare trait in addition to an innate immunity to all status ailments and Instant KOs makes Fulbeua the best defensive character in the game. Like Est, she has access to the Queen Succubus race. Her exclusive Sexcraft skill "Temptation" has a 100% chance of causing Trance and 75% chance of causing Seduction/Stun. Combined with her exclusive Whip "Dominatrix Queen" which makes Sexcraft and Whip skills execute twice, she can easily stun lock all enemies unless they are immune to or strongly resist those status ailments. Obtained in: Chapter 2. Likely the best damage dealer in the game without any setup or external buffs. +50% damage with Axe skills and increased damage with Axe skills based on how low her HP is, in addition to abilities such as Giant's Tyranny (+100% HP, +50% Attack and Defense, -90% Speed) and Flames of War (33% chance of automatically charging an attack at each turn) makes Demon Cow Queen the best Berserker in the game, acting twice and easily achieving critical hits that cause millions of damage while simultaneously being quite bulky. Maximizing the Attack stat on her and disregarding the rest is the way to go. Obtained in: Chapter 2. White Snake Kagura gives her access to dance skills that cancel physical and magical damage, meaning that only auto-hit attacks and status effects will pass through. Priority on dance means that she will always act first, no matter how fast the opponent is. Her only weakness is her high SP consumption, which might need an accessory or levels in the hero job line. Obtained in: Chapter 2. She can give very powerful buffs with Singing skills. She has priority with Singing to make sure her allies are always buffed before anyone acts. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Leveling her can net you access to the Wing Harpy's Sky Dance (+50% Eva/Mag Eva) extremely early in the game. Priority on dance means that she will always act first, no matter how fast the opponent is. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. His passive can fully cancel enemy attacks 30% of the time, (45% with his character-specific gear) and deals more than a decent amount of damage in the process. A little luck can trivialize most fights. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. He has access to a unique buff that gives +50% Attack and Max HP and casts sword skills twice which can be accessed through a unique skill, getting to below 20% HP, or a counter from his unique gear that also heals him making him rather tanky. With his trait having +30% Sword Skill damage and further increasing with lower HP this makes him one of the hardest hitting characters in the game even before his race change unlocks. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. She has access to the Time Stop skill which prevents everyone from acting but her, and is effective against everyone save for a really small handful of superbossess in the Labyrinth of Chaos. Otherwise, she also has access to a self-revive. No, we won't make Jojo references. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. The second best magical damage dealer. Gilgorn's White Magic, Black Magic, Time Magic and Dark skills activate twice and deal +50% damage. In addition, Gilgorn is very durable with +50% Magic and Physical resistance. Her exclusive equipment sends her stats, particularly her Magic, HP and Willpower through the roof, in addition to granting useful party buffs and healing. Gilgorn's main weakness is Pleasure, to which she takes a unique +500% additional damage. To circumvent this, avoid bringing her near succubi and other enemies who commonly use Pleasure skills. A+ Rank: Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. Another Nightmare whose main strength comes mostly from her nature, as she can only suffer from pleasure attacks. Still, her additional evasion as well as the skills she learn from the collab can make her a solid damage dealer without fear of being incapacitated. Obtained in: Chapter 2. King of Grangold has access to the currently exclusive job "Magus King", allowing him to deal a significant amount of magic damage with Ruling skills. Furthermore, a passive auto-revive and +10% HP regen at each turn grants him quite a bit of durability in battles. Obtained in: Chapter 1. She has a base 30% bonus bow damage, and access to a lot of equipment options. Her traits give her a non-negligible chance of decreasing enemy's dexterity. Bows do increased damage against enemies with weaker stats, and almost none of the bosses are immune to this debuff. As a result, she's a solid character throughout the whole game. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Saki's Dancing and Singing skills have +15% status infliction rate and 20% Seduction rate, which allows her to easily stun lock enemies and sometimes even bosses. One of the best support characters in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2, she can get the Sea-Dweller race (and hence their unique Dancing and Singing skills) via a sidequest, making her more versatile. Obtained in: Chapter 2. With Snake skills executing thrice and scaling off of her Defense stat, Yamata no Orochi excels both at being a physical damage dealer and a physical tank. Her exclusive skill "Yamata Head Smash" damages enemies 8 times in a single casting, for a total of 24 instances of damage due to her Unique Trait, with each hit being able to critically strike and apply negative status ailments. Last, you can recruit her as soon as before the assault on Grangold: When Alma Elma temporarily joins your party, you can use the Queen Succubus and her evasion skill to reliably take her down and she joins you right afterward. Obtained in: Chapter 2. She is the first character with an advanced Job and Race even before Alicetroemeria BUT you do need to beat her first so you should fight her when Alma Elma is still temporary and abuse her pleasure weakness. Once you have her you should switch her job to Dark Dragoon to have spear mastery, and equip the abilities Forceful Spear to stack attack with giant abilities you like and finally Water Strike. Thanks to the addition of the giant race you now have a very powerful character that's versatile with Spear, Piracy, and Giant skills. Obtained in: Chapter 2. She's so far the only access to have access to the Sphinx/"Queen Yoma" advanced race, which grants solid skills, and can apply extremely potent status effects, making her a great cleaner. The +25% action chance can be "cheesed" by going back and forth in the party menu, giving her a second one reliably, although her high SP cost requires to farm an additional job for SP Regen.. She can be kept as is, or one can turn her toward an Agi/Dex build. A Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 1. He has a pretty mediocre trait, and before was just a human. Now with the Prototype Roid race he's on par with characters with strong races and traits. Just within its intermediate abilities and skills Prototype Roid gives an end of turn attack, follow-ups to artificial skills, an extra gunshot from multi-hit gun skills, take 1/4 damage for 2 turns, +50% agility evasion and magic evasion for 3 turns, 20% chance to negate and counter an attack, and the skill Sophisticate which gives +350% Agi/Dex. On top of great offenses and being hard to kill at first Roids also have great status resistances. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Mina functions exactly the same way as Cow Demon Queen does, the only difference being that she deals noticeably lower damage due to not having access to the Giant race and her bonus damage with Axe skills being 30% as opposed to 50%. Despite this, she is undoubtedly one of the best characters and damage dealers in Chapter 1. Prioritize her Attack stat above all else. Obtained in: Chapter 1. An early way to make the game makes easier for several reasons. At first, you get a lvl 30 character that can easily be recruited with a lvl 20 team, and while the damage buff for SP cost increase is seriously mediocre, the increased riposte rate with Kitsune Storm Talisman can completely trivialize a lot of fights thanks to its confusion ability and weaken earth. She can be helpful if you cash in on either the confusion effect or the earth weaken, but even then, she can deal solid bonus damage. Furthermore, the access to beast race allows her to easily grab a dispel, which can become useful once you're past the Noah region. A- Rank: B+ Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 2 Having a +50% MaxHP trait and access to the giant race makes her quite bulky and the powerful counter attacker that she is meant to be. With Megaton Press she can do good damage with a counterattack but unfortunately Null and Counter mechanics will take away her counter opportunities and those are too high value to forgo just for Giga. B Rank: B- Rank: C+ Rank: C Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 1. C- Rank: D Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 1. In general, even with the extended race options unlocked thanks to Promestein, humans aren't great. Their stats aren't great, and being stuck to a basic race until having made a lot of way doesn't help. Last, their equipment is limited to a case-by-case basis. Furthermore, Pilate doesn't have good starting stats or equipment, and his trait (+50% resist damage when under 20% HP) is completely useless. You're either going to be take more than 20% of HP damage in a single turn, or you won't have enough HP once the perk triggers to help anyway. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Has a chance to deal a first strike attack at the beginning of the battle. If you want a tank, use a lamia, and if you want good damage with high initiative, use anything else. Obtained in: Chapter 2. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Panty Sensei's Unique Trait brings him no advantage in battles whatsoever, and the Human race severely limits what he can do. Obtained in: Chapter 1. Though Scat Captain possesses +20% Hit and +30% Evasion, a non-removable 20% chance of playing around in battles instead of following orders makes him one of the riskiest characters to use while bringing no compensating advantages to your team. If one wishes to stack evasion on a character, one is better off using Pyhar. |

A Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 1. Our purple-haired protagonist has the unique attribute among Humans of having access to the angel race tree. This fact bestows Luka with invaluable benefits such as the ability Elemental Damage Null (from Cupid of Lust), resistance against most status ailments, and balanced but high stats. Luka's Unique Trait grants him +200% damage with Heroism skills when under 20% HP, which can be taken advantage of by manipulating his HP with the key item "Orb of Life Drain" (even outside battles). In addition, Luka possesses an exclusive Sword in the form of Halo Night Custom, which provides an increase in all stats as well as different elemental strikes, allowing him to easily hit enemy weak points. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. Obtained in: Chapter 2. Kockyoin is an extremely useful character due to his trait which essentially provides you uninterruptable, consistent damage that of which hits all or various enemies at the end of EVERY turn. Kockyoin's trait can never be prevented unless he is incapacitated. Stuns, binds, and other sorts of status effects will not halt the trait from activating and dealing damage. All of these attacks scale off DEX, which is a mainstay for human characters. This means you can use classes like Ninja, Gunner or Doctor and they will only make his trait deal even greater damage. All of this on top of the fact Kockyoin is practically handed to you and starts off with Adventurer mastered, allowing you amazing benefits such as reduced damage from walking on poison/lava makes Kockyoin a VERY good character to have in your party. Her trait can seem curiously weak at first, as you only gain access to skills that are always available to the yoma race, and the HP cost reduction for dark skills is laughable, while the skills themselves are unlocked way too late. Her strength comes from the sheer variety of race available, giving her an incredible flexibility. While it requires extra job XP grinding, you can turn her into anything, and she can outperform most characters of their own race that way. B Rank: C Rank: D Rank: |

Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. Gets automatically a higher rank than most succubi by virtue of being a Nightmare. She starts weak, but become extremely strong as the collab progresses. The bonus agility from her trait coupled with the Agi Skills from her equipment gives her the ability to do huge damage, and coupled with some additional farming to get bonus agility abilities, she become able to destroy any opponent on her way. A Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 2 Has access to the very powerful Succubus Queen race as well as a great amount of starting jobs. Obtained in: Chapter 1 Saki's Dancing and Singing skills have +15% status infliction rate and 20% Seduction rate, which allows her to easily stun lock enemies and sometimes even bosses. One of the best support characters in Chapter 1. Obtained in: Collaboration Scenario. The first of the rank and file Nightmare. She's currently only saved from being lower tier by her powerful Psycho Drain skill. Luckily, her high number of starting jobs open a lot of options to build a good character, but between her reliance on her buff and the lack of access to the Succubus Queen race, she underperforms compared to some other members of her race. Obtained in: Chapter 2. C Rank: Questionable at best, her main interest is the introduction to the Psycho Soldier job line in which she doesn't particularly shine as the class relies on willpower, and focusing her development in this direction is a bad plan as mana management will become an issue while the other skills will fall hard. Besides, she can only be used in the post-game, and only joins at the very end of the collab meaning you can only fully use said skills in the final stretch and the recruitment arc.D Rank: |

C Rank: D Rank: Obtained in: Chapter 1 (Ilias route only). Sadly for Ilias, her Unique Trait does not offer her any impactful or interesting benefits compared to her creations. Being able to always use White Magic and Holy skills is redundant due to her being limited to Angel races, which, with but few exceptions, can use both of those skill trees innately. And while a 50% reduction in the MP cost of Holy skills may be useful in the early game, it quickly becomes unnecessary because of the high amount of MP characters tend to obtain as the game progresses. Hopefully, Ilias's return to form in Chapter 3 will restore her to the position of the divine deity she is. |
